A stability booklet for a small craft is not a novel. It is a structured set of tables and curves that tell an operator how the vessel behaves as it heels. For learners, the intact GZ curve is the first graph to befriend: righting lever against heel angle, drawn for a stated loading condition.

Before you chase peak GZ values, confirm the loading condition. Lightship, departure, and arrival conditions change displacement and vertical centre of gravity. Mixing figures from different conditions is a common source of false confidence in student work. Label every table with the condition name and the assumed free-surface effects from tanks.

Angle of vanishing stability and the range of positive stability matter more in early critiques than decorative precision to three decimal places. If your study craft loses positive GZ at a low angle, discuss beam, freeboard, and topside flare before refining decimal places on displacement.
